Modern lung cancer treatment is increasingly guided by molecular testing: which medicine is considered depends on whether the tumour carries a particular mutation or gene fusion, which is why testing usually precedes any treatment decision. The products here reflect that — EGFR inhibitors such as osimertinib and dacomitinib, ALK and ROS1 inhibitors such as crizotinib, BRAF and MEK inhibitors used in combination, and TRK inhibitors such as larotrectinib.
Generic versions of several of these are available from licensed manufacturers at a fraction of the branded price. Generic osimertinib, for example, contains the same active ingredient at the same strength as branded Tagrisso.
