What is Mycophenolate Sodium?
How Does It Work?
The delayed-release coating dissolves in the small intestine rather than the stomach, delivering mycophenolic acid (MPA) while reducing gastric irritation.
MPA selectively inhibits inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase, blocking de novo purine synthesis required for lymphocyte DNA replication.
T and B cells depend almost entirely on de novo purine synthesis and are selectively suppressed, reducing the immune response that drives rejection.
