Generic Sprycel (Dasatinib)
Same active ingredient — dasatinib — as Sprycel®, at a substantially lower price. Produced by licensed pharmaceutical manufacturers.
The same active ingredient, without the originator price
Generic dasatinib is the equivalent of branded Sprycel® — not a different medicine, and not a “knockoff.”
Any switch between brand and generic should be discussed with your prescribing doctor. Reference prices are indicative public list prices and vary by market.

Dasatinib, explained simply
Written and reviewed by our pharmacist team. Informational only — your doctor directs your treatment.
Dasatinib is the active ingredient in Sprycel®, a tyrosine kinase inhibitor used in certain Philadelphia-chromosome-positive leukemias. Generic dasatinib contains the same active ingredient at the same strengths and is produced by licensed pharmaceutical manufacturers. Used as prescribed by a licensed medical professional.
Sprycel® is the originator brand for dasatinib, developed by Bristol Myers Squibb. It is prescribed in the management of Philadelphia-chromosome-positive chronic myeloid leukemia and acute lymphoblastic leukemia, often when other therapy is unsuitable. It is a prescription-only specialist medicine.
Dasatinib is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor that targets the BCR-ABL protein associated with certain leukemias, along with related signalling proteins. By blocking these signals it is used as part of a treatment plan directed by your haematologist.
Dasatinib is prescribed for patients with specific Philadelphia-chromosome-positive leukemias, as determined by a haematologist based on diagnosis, prior treatment, and overall health.
Dasatinib is usually taken once daily, with or without food, at the same time each day; the dose depends on the condition and your response and is set by your haematologist. Tablets are swallowed whole and should not be crushed or split. The range of strengths allows the dose to be adjusted if side effects occur.
Never change your dose on your own.
Reported side effects of dasatinib may include fluid retention (including, less commonly, fluid around the lungs), low blood cell counts, headache, diarrhoea, and rash. Your haematologist monitors blood counts and watches for fluid-related symptoms during treatment.
Report new or worsening symptoms to your doctor promptly. This is not a complete list — see the patient information leaflet.
Store as directed on the patient information leaflet, usually at room temperature away from moisture and out of reach of children. Always follow the storage guidance supplied with your medicine.
